Record #202176:

A new approach to quantifying soil temperature responses to changing air temperature and snow cover / Michael C. Mackiewicz.

Title: A new approach to quantifying soil temperature responses to changing air temperature and snow cover / Michael C. Mackiewicz.
Author(s): Mackiewicz, Michael C.
Date: 2012.
In: Polar Science. (2012.), Vol. 6(3-4) (2012)
Abstract: Reports use of multiple linear regression (MLR) with dummy predictor variables to quantify degree of dampening between air and shallow soil temperatures in presence and absence of snow cover at four sites in Greenland. Results obtained for sites indicated that, with snow cover, temperature of shallow soils changed by 0.12-0.23°C in response to corresponding 1°C change in air temperature, while, in absence of snow cover, soil temperature changed by 0.22-0.44°C.
