Abstract: Examines radio programme, which was set up with aim of preserving unique culture of indigenous peoples of Russia. Role of programme is to analyse current state of ethnic culture, to disseminate folklore and musical heritage, to seek out and preserve present-day spiritual culture, and to create an archive of recordings for future generations. Concludes that factor in preservation of declining language and culture of Russian North is daily presence on radio-waves.
