Abstract: Uses gridded temperature and precipitation fields from seNorge service to model mass balance at stake locations on five Norwegian glaciers of various sizes and climate conditions. Compares modelled mass balances with glaciological observations and analyses spatial and temporal correspondence to evaluate precipitation grids. Model uses degree-day approach to account for snow and ice melt, and considers refreezing assuming snow-depth-dependent storage. Uses measurements of summer ablation to calibrate model melt parameters to account for winter melt events.
