| Abstract: | Presents characteristics of indigenous memoirists of Siberia who number only 20 amongst many memoirists of 19th century Siberia. Analyses content of memoirs. Argues that, although most indigenous memoirs were produced under influence of Russian culture, some provide evidence of both historic and ethnic self-consciousness. Concludes that phenomenon of these memoirists plays important part in socio-cultural development of indigenous peoples. |
