Abstract: | Considers contemporary Eveny cultural universe from anthropological perspective, in particular that of children and adolescents. Presents many first-hand narratives of young Eveny about their own histories and futures. Demonstrates how they form constructs of time, space, agency and personhood. Includes chapters devoted to connection of young people to forest, village, reindeer, ghosts of GULAG, nomadic cosmology, shamanic journey. Introduces Eveny concept of djuluchen or personhood. Based on fieldwork in Sakha Republic (Yakutiya) in 2003-04, 2010. |
