Abstract: Discusses sources of information about indigenous religion of western Saami. Proposes terminology for places of sacrifice. Argues that interpretation of figures on Saami drums must be based on preserved explanations of owners. Presents hypothesis concerning interrelations and geographical distribution of accounts written by missionaries. Explains how terminologies, dialect geography and place names can be used to supplement other sources relating to indigenous religion.
