| Abstract: | Analysis of CO₂ data from Severny-Polyus-35 over continental slope of Arctic Ocean shows significant variations in 150 ppm concentrations in October-November, and local maximum variations in April connected with changes in sea ice movement in western Arctic basin at that time of year. Changes in CO₂ concentration are connected with frequency of oceanic tides. Data show several incidents of initial release of CO₂ into near-ice surface atmosphere in October 2007, and amount of CO₂ released into atmosphere as result of ice formation in Arctic Ocean is approximately 30% of anthropogenic release of CO₂ per annum. |
