| Abstract: | Assessment of changes in methane emissions from marsh ecosystems of northern Eurasia indicate that while average emissions for base period (1991-2000)were equal to 8 Mt CH₄/year for European Russia and 10 Mt CH₄/year for Asian Russia, by 20141-1050 they will increase to 11 and 13 Mt CH₄/year, and by 2091-2100 to 14 and 17 Mt CH₄/year. These tendencies are associated with increased warm period of soil, and dependence of integral methane production on temperature. Maximum depth of freezing is predicted to decrease in southern Eurasian Russia by late 21st century. |
