Record #20134:

Spørsmaalet om den lappiske torvgammes oprindelse / Konrad Nielsen.

Title: Spørsmaalet om den lappiske torvgammes oprindelse / Konrad Nielsen.
Translated title: The question of the origin of the Saami turf hut.
Author(s): Nielsen, Konrad.
Date: 1945.
Publisher: Oslo: A.W Broggers
Language: Norwegian.
In: Lappiske studier. (1945.),
Abstract: Other Saami dwellings are known to be original or clearly borrowed, but origin of turf huts is disputed. Arguments centre on floor, wall and roof constituents, plan, method of construction, and name goahte. Author explains why he believes them to be original. Swedish type pyramidal timber houses are seen as derived, like turf hut, from tent shape. Modern use, if any, is only as stables.
