Effects of sea ice on breeding numbers and clutch size of a High Arctic population of the common eider Somateria mollissima / Fridtjof Mehlum.

Title: Effects of sea ice on breeding numbers and clutch size of a High Arctic population of the common eider Somateria mollissima / Fridtjof Mehlum.
Author(s): Mehlum, Fridtjof.
Date: 2012.
In: Polar Science. (2012.), Vol. 6(1) (2012)
Abstract: Presents data on breeding performance of common eiders (Somateria mollissima) in Kongsfjorden area, Svalbard, for period 1981-2000. Results showed that early break-up of sea ice in Kongsfjorden resulted in larger number of nests and larger average clutch sizes than late break-up.
