| Abstract: | Biography of botanist Alf Erling Porsild (1901-1977). On relinquishing post as Canadian Consulate in Greenland after World War II, Porsild studied reindeer activities in Alaska and NWT as part of Canadian project designed to encourage animal husbandry among native peoples. He became Curator of Botany at National Museum of Canada and was responsible for enlargement of National Herbarium. Porsild was pioneer in field of Canadian Arctic botany. |
