Both Julien's film True North and Samaras' photographic and video record V.A.L.I.S. challenge popular perceptions of polar regions and question validity of older heroic narratives of Arctic and Antarctic respectively, with specific reference to Robert Peary, Matthew Henson, and Robert Falcon Scott. |
