Record #200853:

Holocene climate variations at the entrance to a warm Arctic fjord: evidence from Kongsfjorden trough, Svalbard / Kari Skirbekk, and 4 others.

Title: Holocene climate variations at the entrance to a warm Arctic fjord: evidence from Kongsfjorden trough, Svalbard / Kari Skirbekk, and 4 others.
Author(s): Skirbekk, Kari.
Date: 2010.
Publisher: London: Geological Society
In: Fjord systems and archives. (2010.),
Abstract: Investigates sediment core (NPo5-11-21GC) from Kongsfjorden trough, which spans last 12 ka. Core site currently experiences seasonal inflow of Atlantic Water (AW) masses and may provide record of past variations in AW inflow to Arctic. Uses lithological analysis and benthic foraminifera to reconstruct palaeoceanographic development in area. Results show that cold and harsh conditions prevailed during late part of Younger Dryas and that site was in proximity to glaciers.
Notes:

In: Fjord systems and archives / J.A. Howe, and 3 others.
