Record #200802:

Effects of a holiday resort on the distribution of semi-domesticated reindeer / Timo Helle, and 5 others.

Title: Effects of a holiday resort on the distribution of semi-domesticated reindeer / Timo Helle, and 5 others.
Author(s): Helle, Timo.
Date: 2012.
In: Annales Zoologici Fennici. (2012.), Vol. 49(1-2) (2012)
Abstract: Investigates impact of large skiing and hiking resort on distribution of semi-domesticated reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) in Saariselkä, eastern Finnish Lapland, in 1986 and 2000. Effect of intensity of outdoor activities on reindeer density (in terms of pellet-group density) depended variably on habitat, year of inventory and season. Despite overall doubling of visitor numbers between inventory years, pellet-group density in winter increased in study area by 20%.
