Dynamics of multi-species feeding associations in marine waters near Juneau, Alaska / Trevor B. Haynes, S. Kim Nelson, Veronica M. Padula.

Title: Dynamics of multi-species feeding associations in marine waters near Juneau, Alaska / Trevor B. Haynes, S. Kim Nelson, Veronica M. Padula.
Author(s): Haynes, Trevor B.
Nelson, S. Kim.
Padula, Veronica M.
Date: 2011.
In: Marine Ornithology. (2011.), Vol. 39(2) (2011)
Abstract: Examines dynamics of multi-species feeding associations (MSFAs) in south-eastern Alaska during summer of 2008. Analyses focal observations of 39 flocks of birds to determine: identity of bird species trapping prey at surface, allowing for initiation of MSFA; roles of numerically dominant species; and changes in counts and behaviour of surface and sub-surface feeders as flocks broke up.
