Abstract: | Belcher Islands Manitunik culture was defined, in 1940, as discrete entity by series of traits of Dorset, Thule and Indian origin. These were, however, taken from collections of unknown archaeological provenance. More recent research into excavations of prehistoric Eskimo houses on Belcher Islands shows that separate Manitunik culture did not exist and its defining traits were result of mixture of artifacts from different cultural sites. |
