Abstract: Reports study to assess: baseline trophic structure of benthic consumers in Chukchi Sea ecosystem prior to oil and gas exploration and development; carbon sources available to organisms in Chukchi Sea; production of carbon in water column; and movement of energy (and contaminants) through food web to higher trophic levels. Stable isotrope analyses for study area reveal food web that is not tied to single carbon source; instead food web is scattered among "isotopic space", suggesting that rich and diverse benthic fauna assimilate multiple carbon sources.
