| Abstract: | Documents organic contaminant levels (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and aliphatic hydrocarbons) in sediments. Establishes concentrations in common invertebrates (e.g. Neptunea heros) and investigates whether environmental concentrations have resulted in observable responses by native fish Boreogadus saida. Finds that N. heros appears actively to depurate petrogenic materials taken up during feeding on sediments. Also finds little sign of response to pollutant exposure in B. saida. |
