Abstract: Investigates natural concentrations and fluxes of zinc (Zn) and other elements in river near Citronen Fjord, north Greenland during 1994, 1995 and 2010. River runs through weathered, naturally exposed part of large sulphide ore deposit, consisting mainly of spalerite, pyrite, and galena. Largest transport of Zn (more than 80% of annual amount) and highest concentrations are observed in river within first three weeks after thaw. This indicates that generation and release of weathering products, including Zn, from oxidation of sulphide minerals differ from sites in warmer climates.
