Environmental and biotic determinants of growth and height of Arctic willow shrubs along altitudinal gradient / Anu Marjukka Pajunen.
Title: | Environmental and biotic determinants of growth and height of Arctic willow shrubs along altitudinal gradient / Anu Marjukka Pajunen. |
Author(s): | Pajunen, Anu Marjukka. |
Date: | 2009. |
In: | Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (2009.), Vol. 41(4) (2009) |
Abstract: | Samples willow thickets at different slope positions at 13 sites along 300 km-long north-south transect on Yamal Peninsula. Results show that even though increasing summer warmth is likely to enhance willow growth, there are other factors such as distance from sea that also affect its growth and height. Suggest also that reindeer grazing may locally counteract effects of climate change. |
