Abstract: Studies temporal variability of total solar radiation (Q) at Barents Sea weather stations. Shows that cloud cover is main parameter determining total irradiance of region. Cloud cover has varying impacts in different sea areas and at different times of year. Long-term variability of annual irradiation is also not same in different parts of Barents Sea. In north-east (Barentsburg), south-west (Murmansk), south-east (Bugrino) and in Arkhangel'sk statistically significant negative trend for period of observation (1958-2007) was observed. Over last two decades (1987-2007) significant negative trend Q was recorded in Barentsburg, Bugrino and Arkhangel'sk, whereas in same period trend towards increase in solar radiation was observed in Murmansk.
