Abstract: Describes participation by South Yukon First Nations governments in Yukon Ice Patch Project, investigating mountain-top snow and ice patches where ancient hunting artefacts are being recovered. Heritage programmes operated by these governments, which coordinate their citizens' engagement in these activities, emphasise intangible cultural heritage. Governments view project as opportunity to strengthen culture, enhance citizens' understanding of their history, and express First Nations values regarding cultural resources.
