Record #199952:

Ancient DNA reveals genetic continuity in mountain woodland caribou of the Mackenzie and Selwyn mountains, Northwest Territories, Canada / Brandon Letts, and 6 others.

Title: Ancient DNA reveals genetic continuity in mountain woodland caribou of the Mackenzie and Selwyn mountains, Northwest Territories, Canada / Brandon Letts, and 6 others.
Author(s): Letts, Brandon.
Date: 2012.
In: Arctic. (2012.), Vol. 65 (supp. 1) (2012)
Abstract: Examines mitochondrial genetic stability of mountain woodland caribou (Rangifer tarandus caribou) in Mackenzie and Selwyn mountains, NWT, over last 4,000 years. Unlike caribou populations in Yukon, population in NWT show no evidence of mitochondrial genetic turnover during that period, indicating that they were not adversely affected by widespread deposition of White River tephra approx. 1,200 years ago.
Notes:

Arctic. Vol. 65 (supp. 1) :80-94 (2012).

Special issue: The archaeology and paleoecology of alpine ice patches.
