Record #199913:

Evaluation of data sources for mapping glacial meltwater features / Martin Margold, Krister N. Jansson.

Title: Evaluation of data sources for mapping glacial meltwater features / Martin Margold, Krister N. Jansson.
Author(s): Margold, Martin.
Jansson, Krister N.
Date: 2012.
In: International Journal of Remote Sensing. (2012.), Vol. 33(7-8) (2012)
Abstract: Evaluates different sets of satellite images and digital elevation models (DEMs) for their suitability to map glacial meltwater features (lateral meltwater channels, eskers, deltas, ice-dammed lake drainage channels and fossil shorelines) in comparison with traditional mapping from aerial photographs. Finds that aerial photographs continue to be most reliable source of information. Demonstrates, however, that satellite images of medium (15 m) or better resolution pose credible choice, especially when combined with DEMs of high spatial resolution.
