Эволюция оледенения Эльбруса после малого ледникового периода

Title: Эволюция оледенения Эльбруса после малого ледникового периода
Title, transliterated: Ėvoli︠u︡t︠s︡ii︠a︡ oledenenii︠a︡ Ėlʹbrusa posle malogo lednikovogo perioda / E.A. Zolotarev, E.G. Kharkovet︠s︡.
Translated title: Development of glaciers of Mount Elbrus after the Little Ice Age.
Author(s): Zolotarev, E. A.

Date: 2012.
Language: Russian.
In: Led i Sneg. (2012.), Vol. 2(118) (2012)
Abstract: Describes results of stereoscopic digital photo survey of Mount Elbrus glaciers produced by space imaging system Cartosat-1 (IRS-P5) in 2007 and compares with phototheodolite survey of south glaciation slopes in same year. Previous results exist for monitoring by instrumental survey (1887-2007) and lichonometric survey (1986). Study shows that data from Cartosat-1 with period of 10 years or more between surveys can be used for monitoring of glaciers, and is suitable for updating 1:25,000 topographic maps of mountain areas. Reveals leading role of Dzhikiugankez plateau in changes. Proposes this combination of visual deciphering combined with digital image processing and measurement for research in glacier dynamics. Notes reduction of Elbrus glaciation since middle 19th century, with advances in some glaciers in 1970s, which does not support anthropogenic causes of global warming.
