Record #199855:

The Austrian Alps and paraglaciation / Christine Embleton-Hamann, Olav Slaymaker.

Title: The Austrian Alps and paraglaciation / Christine Embleton-Hamann, Olav Slaymaker.
Author(s): Embleton-Hamann, Christine.
Slaymaker, Olav.
Date: 2012.
In: Geografiska Annaler. Series A. Physical Geography. (2012.), Vol. 94(1) (2012)
Abstract: Following review of term "paraglacial" in twentieth-century geomorphological literature, recent synthesis of ideas is applied to research in Austrian Alps. Paraglacial model has been developed to allow generalizations about post-glacial sedimentation and erosion under relatively constant conditions. Comparison is made between Austrian and British Columbian postglacial environments. Further new considerations concern nature of transition and disturbance regime landscapes and evolution of glaciated landscapes in response to non-glacial processes.
