Record #199788:

Synoptic influences on snow accumulation on glaciers east and west of a topographic divide: Southern Alps, New Zealand / Heather Purdie, and 3 others.

Title: Synoptic influences on snow accumulation on glaciers east and west of a topographic divide: Southern Alps, New Zealand / Heather Purdie, and 3 others.
Author(s): Purdie, Heather.
Date: 2011.
In: Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (2011.), Vol. 43(1) (2011)
Abstract: Examination of importance of relationships between snow accumulation and synoptic climatology in assessing impact of future climate variability on glacier mass balance. Investigations took place in winter 2008 on glaciers in relatively little-known area on east and west of Main Divide of Southern Alps. Results were inconclusive, probably because research took place within limited time-period. Further longer-term research is suggested, both in Southern Alps and in similar regions such as Patagonia, Norway and Alaska.
