Abstract: Describes development of hydrologic model of Chena River watershed, central Alaska. Flow in Chena River is controlled by Moose Creek Dam, upstream of Fairbanks. Hydrologic Engineering Center-Hydrologic Modeling System (HEC-HMS) model is intended to estimate inflows into Moose Creek Dam and determine probable maximum flood hydrograph. Chena River watershed covers 2,115 m². It is characterised by extensive snowmelt in spring and heavy precipitation events in summer. Chena River is typically in continuous recession from October to April because of sub-freezing air temperatures.
