Record #199701:
Soil organic matter characteristics in sporadic permafrost-affected environment (Creux du Van, Switzerland) / Luisella Celi, and 4 others.
Title: | Soil organic matter characteristics in sporadic permafrost-affected environment (Creux du Van, Switzerland) / Luisella Celi, and 4 others. |
Author(s): | Celi, Luisella. |
Date: | 2010. |
In: | Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (2010.), Vol. 42(1) (2010) |
Abstract: | Compares soil samples from two adjacent sites at Creux du Van, Switzerland, at one of which tree stunting is ascribed to sporadic alpine permafrost. Total organic C/total N ratios, microbial activity, characteristics of humic and fulvic acids, and ¹⁴C dating of soil samples were examined. Concludes that in zone of limited spruce growth, soil is at unstable developmental stage. |
