Record #199697:

The ocean circulation in thermohaline coordinates / Jan D. Zika, Matthew H. England, Willem P. Sijp.

Title: The ocean circulation in thermohaline coordinates / Jan D. Zika, Matthew H. England, Willem P. Sijp.
Author(s): Zika, Jan D.
England, Matthew H.
Sijp, Willem P.
Date: 2012.
In: Journal of Physical Oceanography. (2012.), Vol. 42(5) (2012)
Abstract: Describes thermohaline streamfunction (THS) as integral of transport in temperature-salinity space, representing net pathway of oceanic water parcels in that space. Discusses use of THS as diagnostic to understand global oceanic circulation and it role in global movement of heat and freshwater. Includes estimates of transit times for Antarctic Bottom Water, and THS for water masses found only in Southern Ocean.
