Record #199696:

Characterization of the community of snow algae and their photochemical performance in situ in the Giant Mountains, Czech Republic / Jana Kviderova.

Title: Characterization of the community of snow algae and their photochemical performance in situ in the Giant Mountains, Czech Republic / Jana Kviderova.
Author(s): Kviderova, Jana.
Date: 2010.
In: Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (2010.), Vol. 42(2) (2010)
Abstract: Describes studies of snow algae from genera Chlamydomonas and Chloromonas in Giant Mountains, Czech Republic. Records physical and chemical environmental characteristics of two sites in June 2008, including air and snow temperatures, photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) and ultraviolet radiation (UVR), and studies of photochemical processes of snow algae using chlorophyll fluorescence techniques. Proposes strategies of acclimatisation to high PAR and/or UVR at different stages of life cycle.
