Record #199646:

Regional lace ice meltout patterns near Barrow, Alaska / Kenneth M. Hinkel, and 3 others.

Title: Regional lace ice meltout patterns near Barrow, Alaska / Kenneth M. Hinkel, and 3 others.
Author(s): Hinkel, Kenneth M.
Date: 2012.
In: Polar Geography. (2012.), Vol. 35(1) (2012)
Abstract: Analyzes spatial pattern of lake ice meltout for 1,870 lakes (>10 ha) in ~9,200 km² study area near Barrow, Alaska, using five Landsat scenes spanniong 35-year record. Uses spectra-based algorithm for each available year to differentiate water from ice during springtime meltout and overlays on common lake shoreline template to determine percentage of ice covering each lake. Spatial pattern consistently demonstrates increase in percentage of ice coverage on lakes further north, reflecting regional climate gradient.
