In: Arctic. (2012.), Vol. 65(1) (2012)
Abstract: Reports results from first satellite transmitter ever deployed on individual from critically endangered Spitsbergen stock of bowhead whales (Balaena mysticetus). After spending some weeks in Northern Whaling Ground (at about 78°-80° N, individual moved quickly in south-westerly direction to Southern Whaling Ground (at about 70°-73° N). Direction of this summer movement is opposite to general movement patterns for bowhead whales from other stocks, but in close agreement with historical records about movements of Spitsbergen stock.
