| Abstract: | Analyses attempts to protect nearly extinct Yukagiry, who underwent demographic "hecatomb" under Tsarist regime, and were damaged by sovietisation as far as their sense of identity was concerned. Explores moves by Yukagir intellectual elite to preserve their cultural heritage by authoring statements on Yukagir ethnicity and identity which lays foundation for reconstruction of neo-traditional Yukagir culture and identity. |
