Abstract: Presents results of excavation (between 1997 and 2003) of two unusual structures on Near Islands of Buldir and Attu that may have been houses of chiefs. Structures were larger than ordinary houses, with substantial whalebone structural components. Describes substantial caches of artefacts, parts of animals, and burials associated with structures.
