Record #199375:
The Late Quaternary glaciation of northern Canada / David Evans.
Title: | The Late Quaternary glaciation of northern Canada / David Evans. |
Author(s): | Evans, David. |
Date: | 2012. |
Publisher: | Oxford: Wiley-Blackwell |
In: | Changing cold environments : a Canadian perspective. (2012.), |
Abstract: | Notes how advances in geochronology have helped establish that multiple glacier limits identified in northern Canada relate entirely to Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), and how style of glaciation in Arctic Canada has changed significantly throughout Late Quaternary, from ice sheet coverage during LGM to mountain and plateau ice sheet oscillations during Holocene. Landscapes during this period have been subject to processes associated with both warm- and cold-based ice dynamics. Discusses: landforms and Late Quaternary (LQ) glaciation; LQ sea level change and relationship to glaciation history; LQ glaciation and deglacial history; wider implications of Canadian Arctic ice sheet dynamics; and Holocene glacier events. |
Notes: | In: Changing cold environments : a Canadian perspective / Hugh French, Olav Slaymaker, eds. |
