Метеоролгические условия выпадения ледяных дождей 25-26 декабря 2010 г. над центром Европейской части России

Title: Метеоролгические условия выпадения ледяных дождей 25-26 декабря 2010 г. над центром Европейской части России
Title, transliterated: Meteorolgicheskie uslovii︠a︡ vypadenii︠a︡ ledi︠a︡nykh dozhdeĭ 25-26 dekabri︠a︡ 2010 g. nad t︠s︡entrom Evropeĭskoĭ chasti Rossii / R.M. Vilʹfand, A.D. Golubev.
Translated title: Meteorological conditions of the fall of freezing rain on the central part of European Russia on 25th-26th December 2010.
Author(s): Vilʹfand, R. M.
Golubev, A. D.
Date: 2011.
Language: Russian.
In: Led i Sneg. (2011.), Vol. 3(115) (2011)
Abstract: Analyzes meteorological conditions associated with extremely disruptive freezing rain event that brought Moscow to standstill. Illustrates with trees in Moscow forest, synoptic chart, vertical atmospheric cross-section based on prognostic WRF-ARW model, and chart of isobaric 500 hPa surface. Shows that, unlike freezing drizzle observed previously in Moscow region, warm air removal in this case was less intensive and duration of freezing drizzle longer. Heavy glaze accretions on ground, trees, and some objects remained for around two weeks, much longer than usual.
