Толщина льда и ее изменчивость в Арктическом бассейне в 2006-2009 гг.

Title: Толщина льда и ее изменчивость в Арктическом бассейне в 2006-2009 гг.
Title, transliterated: Tolshchina lʹda i ee izmenchivostʹ v Arkticheskom basseĭne v 2006-2009 gg. / I.E. Frolov, and 3 others.
Translated title: Ice thickness and its variability in the Arctic Basin in 2006-2009.

Abstract: Presents ice thickness data obtained between Franz Josef Land and North Pole in July-August 2006-2009 using digital TV complex installed aboard Russian vessels and icebreakers. More than 55,000 measurements of level ice thickness were made. Compares data with shipborne observations from 1990s, before period of global warming, to show 33% decrease in average thickness of drifting ice in research area. Amounts of first-year and old ice decreased by 21% and 11% respectively. Determines that summer ice melting in 2006 and 2007 corresponds to climate norms. Concludes that total distribution of sea ice thickness in Arctic Basin is determined mainly by proportions of first-year and old ice, which are themselves results of sea-ice circulation by action of atmospheric processes.
