Формирование и развитие дренажных систем в ледниках

Title: Формирование и развитие дренажных систем в ледниках
Title, transliterated: Formirovanie i razvitie drenazhnykh sistem v lednikakh / I︠U︡.I︠A︡. Macheret, A.F. Glazovskiĭ.
Translated title: Formation and development of drainage systems in glaciers.
Author(s): Macheret, I︠U︡. I︠A︡.
Glazovskiĭ, A. F.
Date: 2011.
Language: Russian.
In: Led i Sneg. (2011.), Vol. 3(115) (2011)
Abstract: Reviews hydrological and geophysical investigations of englacial and subglacial water flow in glaciers. Discusses conception of fast and slow drainage system formation, and development of theoretical models to describe water flow in temperate and polythermal glaciers and at bed of cold glaciers with bottom melting. Notes, for temperate glaciers, important notion of water permeability of temperate ice, not only through water veins and channels, but also recently established possibility of flow through glacier thickness to bed via ice fracture zones. Identifies research directions to explore influences of various factors on glacier and ice sheet dynamics in changing climate, and better understand roles of englacial and subglacial water in fast glacier flow and surge mechanisms.
