| Abstract: | Details 2006 survey of Italian glaciers. Summarizes observations for Piemonte-Val D'Aosta, Lombardia and Tre Venezie sectors, and Calderone glacier in Appenines, indicating advance/retreat and snout elevation, and highlighting significant morphological changes. Of 195 glaciers checked, 145 were measured, of which 141 retreated. Three termini were stationary and Tersiva glacier was measured for first time. Presents detailed analysis of meteorological conditions in Italian Alps during hydrological year 2005-2006, examining air temperature and snowfall trends, etc., and noting continuing conditions unfavourable for glaciers. Lists key observations for over 100 glaciers, providing brief descriptions (in Italian) and photographs of many, including Ghiaccio Oriental di Fellaria, whose frontal portion separated from main body. |
