Record #199315:

Sea ice meio- and macrofauna / Bodil A. Bluhm, Rolf R. Gradinger, Sigrid B. Schnack-Schiel.

Title: Sea ice meio- and macrofauna / Bodil A. Bluhm, Rolf R. Gradinger, Sigrid B. Schnack-Schiel.
Author(s): Bluhm, Bodil A.
Gradinger, Rolf R.
Schnack-Schiel, Sigrid B.
Date: 2010.
Publisher: Oxford: Wiley-Blackwell
In: Sea ice. (2010.),
Abstract: Introduces sea ice as habitat, feeding ground, refuge, and breeding/nursery ground for metazoan species, noting wide variations of environmental conditions with location and season, and contrast between seasonal dynamics of Arctic and Antarctic sea ice covers. Covers: sea ice metazoan communities (species diversity and spatial and temporal variability of in-ice fauna, diversity and variability of under-ice fauna, platelet ice, and sampling); biochemical adaptations; sea ice as feeding ground; colonization of sea ice and life history cycles (life cycle case studies of three ice-associated Antarctic copepods and an Arctic polychaete, and role of sea ice for Antarctic krill); and climate variability and change and potential consequences for sympagic fauna.
