Record #199310:
Snow and sea ice / Matthew Sturm, Robert A. Massom.
Title: | Snow and sea ice / Matthew Sturm, Robert A. Massom. |
Author(s): | Sturm, Matthew. Massom, Robert A. |
Date: | 2010. |
Publisher: | Oxford: Wiley-Blackwell |
In: | Sea ice. (2010.), |
Abstract: | Reviews current knowledge of sea ice snow cover, emphasizing polar regions and demonstrating variability and heterogeneity of snow cover in thickness and physical properties over range of spatial and temporal scales. Examines: relationship between snow and sea ice; general snow characteristics (snow types, metamorphism, salinity, etc); temporal evolution of snow packs in Arctic and Antarctic; snow pack properties (grain size, density, thermal and optical properties); snow depth distributions on global, hemispheric, regional, and floe scales; remote sensing; ecological significance; outlook. Discusses large scale patterns, and distinct differences between sea ice snow covers of Arctic and Antarctic. |
Notes: | In: Sea ice / David N. Thomas, Gerhard S. Dieckmann, eds. |
