| Abstract: | Analyzes thermokarst lake dynamics since 1950s at two sites (between Vilyuy and Tyukyan rivers, and on right bank of middle section of Lena river), using aerial photographs from 1950s, multitemporal satellite imagery from 1970s, 1980s and 2000s, and meteorological data that show increasing air temperature over study period. Analyzes seasonal, interannual and long-term changes in area of thermokarst lakes, and examines influences of human activity and forest fires on thermokarst state in Central Yakutiya. |
