Abstract: Presents ¹⁰Be surface exposure ages of moraine boulders deposited in two different glacial environments during maximum Würmian ice extent and deglaciation. Despite similar climatic boundary conditions, exposure age distributions from deposits of small valley glacier in Bavarian Forest and terminal moraines of Isar-Loisach and Inn piedmont lobes in Eastern Alps differ. Both systems reached maximum extent during late Würmian, but valley system was more sensitive to climate fluctuations. Synchronicity of late glacial (Gschnitz) readvance in Bavarian Forest and Eastern Alps was reached during 16-15 ka, when only valley glaciers existed. Discusses how exposure age distributions in different glacial environments reflect ice dynamics and geomorphic processes affecting moraine stabilization, and implications for sampling strategies and interpretation.
