Abstract: Evaluates vertical changes in abundance, biomass and community structure of copepods and their effect on material flux, based on analysis of stratified samples collected at 15 discrete depths between 0-3,000 m with fine mesh size Vertical Multiple Plankton Sampler. Both copepod abundance and biomass decreased with increasing depth, and both decreases were described well with power model. Identifies total of 72 calanopid copepod species belonging to 34 genera and 15 families in Bering Sea and 63 species belonging to 32 genera and 13 families in northern North Pacific. At both stations, copepod communities comprised five groups that had distinct vertical distribution patterns.
