Record #198646:

Corporate social responsibility: the economic and institutional responsibility of business in society / Bjørn-Tore Blindheim.

Title: Corporate social responsibility: the economic and institutional responsibility of business in society / Bjørn-Tore Blindheim.
Author(s): Blindheim, Bjørn-Tore.
Date: 2011.
Publisher: Abingdon: Routledge
In: Arctic oil and gas : sustainability at risk?. (2011.),
Abstract: Discusses concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its potential relationship with sustainable development. Proposes limited conceptualisation of CSR, and stresses companies' institutional responsibility towards society. This implies that corporations have responsibility to adapt activity to constraints and opportunities set by political institutions and processes of public policy, and, as such, should not undermine capacity of those institutions to perform fundamental mission in society (e.g. framing and regulating activity of oil and gas industry in Arctic).
