Abstract: | Analyses similarities and contrasts between Scott and his fictional counterpart, Captain Rames, in Mason's 1912 novel The turnstile. Thinly veiled and uncomplimentary depiction of expedition leader became problem when Scott's death was announced in following year, and author's depictions of Antarctica were vague and lacking in detail, due to absence of any well-established set of literary conventions at the time. |
