Abstract: Analyzes long-duration conjugate observations by EISCAT Svalbard Radar and ionosonde at Zhongshan station during solar maximum, with respect to variability in F2-layer peak parameters. Comparison between International Reference Inonosphere-2007 (IRI-2007) and observation data clearly demonstrates good agreement in summer, but greater deviations in winter. IRI model reproduces F2 peak parameters dominated by solar photoionization reasonably well, but does not address effect of electron precipitation.
