| Abstract: | Describes use of sub-bottom profiler to acquire high-resolution data in deepwater area of Bransfield Strait, off South Shetland Islands, as part of study of separation between Antarctica and South America (SEASOAM). Results obtained by researchers aboard Brazilian vessel Ary Rongel allowed identification of gas-hydrate-bearing sediments and helped scientists make decisions about where to collect gravity-core samples. |
