Изменение оледенения оазиса Ширмахер (Восточная Антарктида) с конца позднего неоплейстоцена

Title: Изменение оледенения оазиса Ширмахер (Восточная Антарктида) с конца позднего неоплейстоцена
Title, transliterated: Izmenenie oledenenii︠a︡ oazisa Shirmakher (Vostochnai︠a︡ Antarktida) s kont︠s︡a pozdnego neopleĭstot︠s︡ena / S.R. Verkulich, and 3 others.
Translated title: Change of glaciation in Shirmacher Oasis (East Antarctica) from the end of the Late Pleistocene.
Author(s): Verkulich, S. R.
Date: 2011.
Language: Russian.
In: Led i Sneg. (2011.), Vol. 2(114) (2011)
Abstract: Presents reconstruction from Last Glacial Maximum, when region was covered by ice masses of two types; thick and active on shelf, thin and stagnant in oasis, joined at oasis northern boundary. Discusses: early Holocene deglaciation, characterized by rapid thawing and formation of large pro-glacial lakes on oasis surface; rapid lowering of glacial surface in shelf area by 7000 years BP, causing catastrophic water flow from lakes to shelf area and leaving disconnected glaciers in oasis; slow glacier degradation to 4000 years BP; significant glacier reduction, lake contraction and oasis dessication to 2000 years BP; and subsequent decreases in oasis snow/ice coverage, interrupted by small glacier advances at boundaries during late Holocene, and probably Little Ice Age.
